Gerard Gallagher RIP

In Loving Memory of Gerard Gallagher


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry, a beloved caretaker of Kirkby CE Primary School who touched the lives of children, staff, and the entire school community for 13 years. Gerry passed away peacefully on 30th December, surrounded by his loved ones.


Known for his unwavering dedication, kindness, and dry sense of humour, Gerry was more than just a caretaker; he was a pillar of the school. Whether it was ensuring the classrooms were ready, fixing anything in need of repair, bathing in extremely hot custard (don’t ask!) or having his head shaved for charity Gerry certainly lit up the school.


Beyond the daily tasks, Gerry was a mentor to many children, a friend to staff, and a steadfast presence who went above and beyond to ensure the school felt like a second home to all.


Gerry will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his incredible heart, unwavering kindness, dry sense of humour and lasting impact on the lives of all he encountered.


Mary his wife, daughters Louisa and Rebecca and family will take comfort in knowing he left a legacy of smiles, laughter, and community spirit.


Rest in Peace, Gerry!

Hello Class 4.

We hope you are doing well and staying safe at home.

We are all missing you dearly so it is good when we receive some lovely emails from you. Keep them coming and if you have not sent an email yet, why not send us one today? We'd love to know how you're getting on.

For your home learning this week, you will be working on fractions in maths and you have a summer activity booklet to do for English.

I've tried to hyperlink all the sites you need to visit and any work you need to do so just hover your finger over text to see if it's highlighted. Please click on each of the images or hyperlinks to open the files or alternatively, download the links at the end of this message.


MATHS:

Look at week 5 White Rose/ BBC for the relevant video links and activities. We recommend using White Rose as it's what we've been using in class so the children are used to it and they also have accompanying worksheets which we've downloaded for you. They do 4 daily worksheets and then a challenge on Fridays. BBC are following the same timetable and have good introductory videos that may help explain the topic so feel free to check them out if it's useful.

to see the video clips on how to form letters and joins correctly. Practise the letters you struggle with the most. Hint: the ones I nagged you about!!

I've set us a tournament with Class 5 and another with Class 6. Let's show them how FAB Class 4 is at their tables. They'll be eating your dust!!! I can see that most of you have been on TTRockstars but I can also see a few of you have been missing out on the fun way to learn your tables.
