Safeguarding Information for Children and Families
At Kirkby CE Primary School, our priority is the safety, happiness and well-being of our children. We take our role as safeguarding and child protection officers very seriously and we will always deal with safeguarding and child protection cases quickly.
The Department for Education (DfE) ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ (September 2021), states safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined for the purposes of this guidance as:
- Protecting children from maltreatment;
- Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development;
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
If you have ANY concern about a child’s safety or welfare, please do not hesitate in contacting Miss Hindmarsh (Headteacher)- our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Mrs Kenny -(Learning Mentor) Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in school. Mrs Collins is our Governor and Safeguarding Governor.

Operation Encompass - Is a partnership between police and schools.
We are an Operation Encompass school which means that we are alerted, by the police, if they have visited a household where a children has witnessed domestic abuse. Information is shared as part of a multi-agency approach for the safety and wellbeing of children involved in or witnessing domestic abuse.
CEOP- A law enforcement agency to keep children and young peopel safe from sexual exploitation and abuse.
NSPCC - National Society for the prevention of cruelty to children - Every child is worth fighting for.
Action for children - Their vision if that every child and young person in the UK has a happy and safe childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Pace2be - Supporting the health and well-being of children and young people; providing mental health support in schools.
Childline - The helpline is accessible, 24 hours a day and free from all netwroks, to children and adults with concerns about children.

Knowlsey Early Help
Knowsley Early Help is about working with children, young people & families to offer the right support early before a small need becomes a bigger one. It is an approach to supporting young children and familes reach their full potential. They support familes at the earliest point when they first have challenges, stopping problems from escalating.
